Biometry

Biometry is a test that allows measuring the axial length of the eyeball, the corneal diameter, and the depth of the anterior chamber of the eye. IOL Master scan, a biometer, operates with a very high-precision laser to measure the intraocular and phakic lenses employed in cataract surgery.

What is it useful for?

It allows the knowledge of different ocular parameters, such as the axial length of the eyeball, that is, the distance between corneal apex and retina, and the depth of the anterior chamber, which is the space between cornea and lens.

Recommendations for this test:

  • Be at the information counter 30 minutes before the appointment.
  • Bring a copy of your medical record.
  • Remove contact lenses according to medical guidelines (if they are soft, 8 days before the procedure; if they are hard, 1 month before).
