Waterfalls

A cataract is an opacity of the crystalline lens that prevents the correct passage of light towards the retina. It should be removed when it interferes with reading, driving a car, or when the patient states that their vision has diminished.

One of the most common causes of cataracts is the natural aging of the eye, although heredity, frequent exposure to sunlight, diabetes, eye injuries, steroids and previous eye surgery, among other aspects, also play a role. .

To solve the cataract problem, an intraocular lens is implanted in its place. To do this, the cataract is extracted through a very small incision, which does not require sutures, and using ultrasonic vibration, the contents of the cataract are liquefied and suctioned.

The cataract is detected through a meticulous examination of the eyes, carried out by an ophthalmologist.
