The skin is the organ with greatest extension in our body: its great surface ranges between 1.5 and 2 square meters in an adult. Many diseases of such organ appear isolated, while others are externalizations of inner ailments. Besides knowing how to diagnose and treat skin diseases, a dermatologist also has knowledge regarding surgery and other medical specialties, including rheumatology, immunology, neurology, infectious diseases and endocrinology. We currently have 12 dermatologists in our Clinic.
Why is it important to see a dermatologist?
It is important to visit a dermatologist for several reasons. First, a dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair and nail health. This means he/she has the experience and is qualified to identify and treat a broad range of skin problems, ranging from common conditions, such as acne and rosacea, to more serious diseases,z such as skin cancer.
Second, a dermatologist may help to prevent skin problems by means of early detection of abnormal changes in it, and the suggestion of preventive measures.
Third, a dermatologist may contribute to improving skin appearance by means of aesthetic treatments, such as botox injections or dermal fillers.
