Optical Coherent Tomography (OCT)

Even though OCT is being used more and more in the study and treatment of different
kinds of glaucoma, it is mainly aimed at the treatment of retina, macula and optical nerve.

What is it useful for?

It is very useful in the early detection of macular pathologies such as ocular diabetes, or age-related macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD), as well as in a more efficient and adequate treatment. OCT will provide great information about such diseases, when the patient is suspected of having them. It shows the state they are in, and if there have been any changes between one consultation and the next.
